Re: AutoCheck v. CARFAX

Don't be so sure. If a recall is issued for a 'Blepmobile V6' for a particular problem one service may list all of the Blepmobile V6's, by body style and engine a revealed by the VIN. The other may list only those of owners actually notified that their vehicle is one that is involved. Nether one may list those actually taken to the dealer for inspection to see if it is involved and needs repair or not. The other may list only those that actually had the defect and then had the repair completed. If a vehicle was involved in an accident and repaired by the owner without involving an insurance company, there will be no record. If an owner had repairs complete somewhere other than a dealership there may well not be a record. You would be better served employing a competent technician to examine the vehicle for you.
