Re: Gas prices not going down!

Well Gee, Do you think Bush and all his oil buddies are going to reduce oil prices since we all have gotten use to paying THEIR inflated prices for gas. They got us by the balls and they know it. Smile and pay the prices and vote right next time. If either party has a real man that is. But don't hold your breath.

It doesn't matter who's on the ballot. Just hold your nose if you have to and vote the incumbent out of office. You may have to do it more than once, but eventually we'll elect somebody who'll understand what he's supposed to be doing for us.

We pay the military when they sit in the states, as well. ;)

But it costs a hell of alot more to deploy them halfway around the globe than it does to have them sitting here going through day to day training. And we also activated thousands of reserves for upto a year for most of them. Where do you think their fulltime paychecks come from?

Including all the ships the Navy has deployed around the globe at an up tempo for much longer cruises then they are normally acustomed to. Not even thinking about what it costs to send hundreds or thousands of bombs into that wasteland. So your blanket statement about we pay them while sitting in the states is a pretty dumb observation.

How about all those people that work within the oil industry, do they count as average men? If you have a problem with the price of fuel, contact you congressman, the governments makes the most 'profit' on fuel, in the form of direct and indirect taxes. Try doing a little research before you comment, perhaps then you will not seem so foolish. The federal government makes more per gallon at the pump (About .18c) than the oil companies (About .11c) or the station owner (About .7c.) The states average .23c ;)

Perhaps in your opinion, but not nearly as dumb as saying the job of the military is to keep the oil company profit up. LOL

Yeah... it's always someone else's fault... someone's always out to get you.. the little guy never catches a break.

Us v them... move to Europe... you'll fit right in.

This whole discussion is stupid... that guy is thinking with his ass... if he KNEW anything about geo-petro-politics, he'd realize the current price is lower than if we'd done nothing.

It still comes down to supply and demand. OPEC does NOT want North America opening new production fields.

Gas prices in my area -Ohio- fluctuate with the spot market and Marathon/Speedway, NOT BP or SHELL, sets them. If HIS area has nothing but global brands, that's HIS problem.

One day the price can be 1.28 and the next 1.54... but guess what, it all evens out to under 1.40

I was driving in the 60's when a typical pay was 150/week and I'm not dissatisfied.

If he had any common sense he'd be bitching about the price of natural gas... and you can thank the environmentalists* for that. If we dont find a way to start burning coal to generate electricity again this economy is in real danger of not being able to come back.

*Treehuggers: No nukes no coal no dams.. .save the scenery and fishies no new drilling no fossil fuels at all

use wind (except where I live - see Ted Kennedy) use solar

And the oil companies don't want us developing new sources of energy, like solar and wind. And the administration that was not voted for by the majority of Americans has a lot of rich people with oil and military backgrounds.

The current price of oil does not include the effects of global warming, either.

How come you failed to mention the safest, lowest cost, non polluting source of energy, nuclear power? The rest of the world is years ahead of the US in the use of clean, safe, nuclear power. Wind and solar power can not keep up with the growth in third stage electoral use, let alone replace some first stage generation. If you believe power generation is a source of the global warming theory, do your part, turn off your PC. ;)

I totally agree that nuclear power is safe and clean. Except for the nuclear waste, which is a big problem. Until the nuclear waste issue is solved, no more nuclear power plants will be built.

All the best,

Jeff
