Of which, $10.41 trillion existed by the end of Bushtard's term. In fact, from Carter to Bushtard, the national debt *decreased* under every Democratic administration, and *increased* (dramatically) under every Republican administration. But don't let a silly little thing like facts stand in the way of a good rant.

Actually, right answer. Please note that I am using fiscal year end balances (as mentioned above). Using those figures, the last decrease was in 1957.
