Starting Problem Too

Yesterday my 1995 Escort LX wouldn't start. It had run fine that day. My uncle came and boosted it off. That got us home fine. This morning my dad took the battery to a local auto parts store. There had been some corrosion. He wiped that off. The battery tested at being 80 percent fine. We made it to church fine. After church, we stopped at a drug store. The car wouldn't start again. My uncle boosted it off again. We stopped for some takeout food, but didn't kill the motor. Finally, the car died while turning in our driveway. We got it parked, but haven't tried it since. What could be the problem: alternator, battery, starter, or something else? We still have that beeping noise. One mechanic said that it was an alarm installed by a previous owner. How about the ignition? Overall, this has been a very good car.

Sincerely, Darren Thornton

How about the 'alt' lite? That didnt come on?

Does it come on before you crank the car?

Do you have, and know how to use, a voltmeter?

How many miles?

The "alarm theory" doesnt fit.

Sorry... I dont have that good a memory... trying to offer auto advice, tell others how to run two different soccer teams, root for the Bengals without losing my cool, and advise on fixing the worlds problems means I dont tend to remember all that well

And it's beside the point here.
