Warranty issue? with dash separating on 99 Mercury

I have a 1999 Mercury Mystique. The dash (vinyl/plastic?) has begun to separate from the metal, in the vicinity of the windshield. I went to my local Ford dealer to see if this was a defect/recall item. Their answer is
NO! I have heard rumors that there is such a known defect in Mystiques, Tempos, and Tauruses. I have also heard rumors that there is some sort of unadvertised program by which Ford is quietly paying for the repairs, because it is indeed a known defect.
Anybody having any info in this regard, please let me know. Thanks
GZ

on this part,BUT, there were mileage and date caps. I don't remember the particulars. Your car would not be covered due to it's age. Remember, your car is 6 years old now.             Tom

Did you buy it new? Your selling dealer would be much more likely to help with something like this. If you bought it used, well it's a used car.

AFAIK, the only extended warranty customer satisfaction program left on the Mystique/Contour involves the coil springs. It would be very rare indeed to see extended warranty on trim items.
