Warranty issue? with dash separating on 99 Mercury

I have a 1999 Mercury Mystique. The dash (vinyl/plastic?) has begun to separate from the metal, in the vicinity of the windshield. I went to my local Ford dealer to see if this was a defect/recall item. Their answer is NO! I have heard rumors that there is such a known defect in Mystiques, Tempos, and Tauruses. I have also heard rumors that there is some sort of unadvertised program by which Ford is quietly paying for the repairs, because it is indeed a known defect.

Anybody having any info in this regard, please let me know. Thanks

Doubtful if you can get a dealer to fixt that if the car is six years old.

IIRC, there was a bulletin issued about this and Ford extended some warranties on this part,BUT, there were mileage and date caps. I don't remember the particulars. Your car would not be covered due to it's age. Remember, your car is 6 years old now. Tom

Did you buy it new? Your selling dealer would be much more likely to help with something like this. If you bought it used, well it's a used car.

AFAIK, the only extended warranty customer satisfaction program left on the Mystique/Contour involves the coil springs. It would be very rare indeed to see extended warranty on trim items.

Any suggestions on how to locate the bulletin?

Thanks to all, for their time and efforts in replying to the post.
