When was it last serviced?

With the engine running, can you hear the clutch engage shortly after you press the button?

its a few years since the ac had a charge. In the past its been a gradual failure and not sudden as this time. I have no clutch activity and the 2 fans on the radiator are not kicking in, the only thing that happens is the green light on the switch illuminates.

A recharge should only be needed if there is a leak.

I can only suggest a specialist I'm afraid.

In the UK a recharge is recommended about every 3 years... leaks are inevitable, especially in mobile systems..and even on fixed systems the main work especially in the warm weather the uk has had recently is to recharge systems that are short of gas.
