new focus

I am currently running a 1.6 Zetec (5 door) in UK which was three years old in September. I have a nagging feeling I should think about getting one of the last of the old models for several reasons.

Personally I am very disappointed by the styling of the new model and like all new cars it is longer and wider than the car it replaces. Also, I know the new focus drives well and is likely to be "safer", but I wonder to what extent Ford's current financial difficulties have impacted on the its engineering design. The current European model has enjoyed an excellent reputation for build quality and reliability over the years.

Decisions decisions. Any feedback from someone about to take delivery of the new model would be welcomed, especially in comparison to current 1.6. Incidentally one reason why I wouldn't be particularly interested in Golfs etc. is I am addicted to my Quickclear windscreen.

I would stay with what you have. It is inherently a good design and unless you are having seriouss difficulties with the car you have why upgrade? Also, wait until the new model sorts itself out.

Having driven a new Golf, the lack of Quickclear would be reason no: 47 not to buy one - they are rubbish!

As the new model Focus becomes available, the p/ex or private sale value of your current car will fall. Unless you do very high annual mileages I would keep your current car
