1991 Explorer. How do I remove the Window Lift Motor

1991 Explorer. How do I remove the Window Lift Motor from the right side driver's door? I have removed the door panel, the speaker and one nut that appear to holding the lift motor in place. There are three rivets protruding on the door panel. Do I need to remove all three? I have purchase a gear kit to put on the lift motor but not sure how to proceed from this point. I appreciate any advice. Respectfully Lou

Before you go much further, you will need to cut a piece of 1X2 to length to hold the window up. Make it long enough to go from the bottom of the door to the bottom of the channel that the window sits in. If it is an inch or so short, it is not a big problem. If your Exploder is anything like the P/U's of that vintage, you will need to drill out the rivets that are now holding the window motor in place. You will need to replace them with machine screws that will thread into the new motor housing when you reinstall. Be careful, you are working in an area of sharp surfaces which may cause you to lose blood when least expected. If I recall, you will need to place some masking tape inside your socket when installing one or two of the machine screws so you don't lose them in the process. You may want to buy an extra or two for that reason. The whole motor assembly is only about $75.00 from Ford. The gear kit is about $15 - $20 at Discount Auto. I have found that the savings is not worth playing with the gear set as you may need to resize some of the rollers to make them fit without forcing something. Good luck.
