68 F-100 question

Got a LB, 200k plus miles, thinking of changing cab mount pads. Need info on how complicated this is. Is it necessary to remove fenders also? thanks ,JR

How are the cab mounts themselves? Normally those give out due to rust long before the rubber pads themselves do.

If the mounts are OK and you just need to replace the pads, you could probably get away just removing the bolt on each side and putting a hydraulic jack up under the front of the cab and lifting it JUST enough to take the pressure off the pads and slide them out. However, do not get too carried away like this, as you're going to be stressing a number of components, like the steering column and clutch linkage (if so equipped).

The best way would be to remove the fender-to-cab bolts (inner AND outer fenders), disconnect the steering column at the rag joint and disconnect the throttle linkage....and THEN lift up the front of the cab.
