I currently have a 91 Ranger (2.3L, 2wd, 5spd) and have a change to procur a wrecked 1994 Ranger (4.0L, 4wd, 5spd). Is it possible to use the engine, transmission and transfer case out of that 94 on my 91 to convert to 4x4?

It would probably be easier to put your 91 body on the 94. You could do it, mostly bolt-on, make sure you get the electronics for the engine and the harness that goes with it. Since you have access to the wrecked one, you should have access to any miscellaneous parts like motor mounts.
