Best way to install a transmision temp gauge?

I have a 1993 F350 with an E4OD Tranny, I was wondering if anyone had installed a temp gauge for the tranny and had any words of wisdom, in-line or are there any plugs on the tranny for a gauge, electrical or mechanical.

Thanks....Alan

Someone in the group must have an idea on the temp gauge. I see on the back of the tranny near one of the electrical plug-in is a pipe plug, could this be for a temp or pressure gauge, it's close to the return fluid line.

Thanks...Alan

mechanical.

I just did. There is a pipe plug on the drivers side just above the pan flange just in front of a shift lever. It's pretty ovious and isn't hard to find. If you have a problems do a Google search for pictures. That's how I found it. If that don't work I'll take a picture of mine and e-mail it to you. The only problem is my camers is packed and won't be unpacked until the end of next week when we get to Florida but I can do it then. Gene.

Ask this question in news://rec.outdoors.rv-travel. They will certainly have the answer or be able to tell you where to find it. These folks are used to hauling heavy trailers.

it's a pressure test port

put a Tee into the cooler return line, and install the sender in the Tee

The cooler return line is NOT where you want the probe. You want it where it comes out of the transmission for correct readings if your going to do it that way.
