bus or truck chassis to coachbuild a mobile office?

The plan is to buy a chassis new from the factory, and turn it over to a coachbuilder to buildup a mobile office.

Which is a better starting point - a bus chassis or a truck chassis?

Note - this will happen in Asia - neither a ford nor a chevy is likely to be involved....

Then why post on a FORD forum? If you arent going to use our product, dont ask us.. Ask in a foreign car manufacturers forum.. One where they know YOUR vehicle better than we do. You best bet is to talk to an automotive dealer over there.

You need to determine where and how it will be used. If you plan on driving from village to village on the "normal" roads there your going to want a 4 or 6 wheel drive truck. Something with a good engine and a very wide range of gears in the transmission. You might also want to have it built like a Hi/Lo style camper as well. That way the overall height will be lower during driving but you would still have full height when parked. You will also want to make sure you can carry anything you may need on the truck. Don't plan on having anything on site.

The normal bus style chassis are TERRIBLE on anything but smooth paved roads, poor ground clearance and they handle like a high top turtle.
