cold starting problem

Two questions........

I have a 1995 Explorer LTD with the 4.0 6 cyl.

When I start the truck in moderately cold temps ( a little below freezing) she starts fine but takes a second to find the right rpm.

When it gets a little colder she will start then die right away. She will always start fine on the second try.

When it gets allot colder ( Say -20 Celsius [I am in Canada]), as it was last night, she would start only after about thirty seconds of me turning the engine over continuously.

AAAARRRRGGH! Can someone give me an idea on what it could be and should it be something I can fix?

Please note the check engine light never comes on.

Also can someone tell me where the door ajar sensors are on my tailgate? I think they need to be replaced.

Thanks all Dennis

how worn are the plugs and does it start better with the throttle slightly open (throttle bore dirty: min. air rate)?

Hello,

I had a similar problem with my 99 Explorer (same engine) and the problem was with the fuel pump. Ford replaced the fuel pump.

Could be a sticking IAC valve. I've been thru at least 3
