Ford Explorer rear window problem

The rear power window on my 2001 Ford Explorer has become stuck about

2/3rds up. This happened after the only time I ever actually operated it when a passenger broke wind. Anyway, now I have a perpetually open back window here in the wintertime, which is NOT GOOD. The local Ford dealership wants $400 for a new rear window motor and actuator. I think that's a bit steep, but the local salvage yards claim to not carry parts of such recent vintage. I could live with it if they could just close the damn window, but the service folks say the glass is interlocked with the electrical mechanism in such a way as to make that impossible. If anyone can supply information on how to close the rear window, it would be thunderously appreciated. I'll worry about the motor and actuator later.
