Heater/AC Problem - New 2004 F-150

I've only had the this truck a couple of weeks and no problems with it except for this one. Dealer can't/won't look at it until after the 1st so thought I would see if anyone here has seen this so I can fix it myself.

Problem: When I turn on the heater/ac it comes on for two or three seconds and then turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on. It will continue to cycle on and off indefinitely. If the blower is turned on it will turn on and off with the panel controls. There is a small clicking noise as the unit cycles on and off coming from the fuse box area. I've checked and reinserted all of the fuses, none of them weren't burnt or loose.

It had been working fine before this started. Just got in it one evening to go to the store and it started. Hasn't stopped yet.

Thanks

Thom

It sounds like the blower motor is going into thermal overload. It must be defective, and drawing too much current which causes it to overheat.

Take the damn thing to a different dealer and call FoMoCo and lodge a complaint about the original lazy dealer! It is a brand new truck for Christ sake.

I agree, if it has thermal overload protection. Also, it could be the motor's okay and a circuit breaker's no good. If it has a circuit breaker. I've never seen a car with either in the A/C system, frankly.

But either way, it sure sounds just like an automatically resetting, circuit interrupting, thermally operated device.
