Leaky Valve Cover 1987-302- F150. Big job?

My local trusted Machanic wants to charge me $350.00 labor to replace the valve cover gaskets. He says its a lot of work to remove and replace the fuel injector and that that is the only way. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible get a socket in there using a swivel attachment or two to tighten them down. I want to give it a try B4 blowing that kind of cash

Thanks for any advise you can give.

Removing that upper plenum is not that big a deal. Shouldn't run more than

3 hours plus parts.

Yeah, that's what he said. $350

Not sure if it can be done on an F150 with the different intake, but I was able to squeeze a socket in there and somehow was able to get both valve covers off with a '93 mustang I had without removing the upper intake. Like I said, it may not be possible on your truck, but even if it isn't, the intake isn't hard to remove. Just make sure you remember where everything goes when you remove it ;) Erik D.
