Newbie Question

Does anyone know how to turn off the "Check Engine" light on a Ford 2000 Ranger?

Thanks!

The safest way is to check with a qualified mechanic as to why the light came on. (This light is in place to get you to do something to keep the mtor running longer and better.)

If you've done that, ask the mechanic how to shut the light off.

Assuming you know what caused the light to come on and have corrected the problem, you most likely can disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected over night and that will reset the light. Did on a friends V-10 anyway!!

Or even if it does not meet time/mileage requirements. It still needs to be fixed.

Exactly! Getting it done at no cost should take away even a poor mouthing excuse.

Fix whatever problem caused the light to come on in the first place.
