Purchase of high mielage Excursion

I would like to get some feedback on the purchase of an 2000 Ford Excursion with 100k+ miles.

The vehicle looks to be in good shape and the owner has assured me that the mileage is all highway mileage.

Are there any issues that folks here might have heard about and / or expereinced with a high mileage Excursions? Engine, transmission, anything that might cause me intense pain in the wallet?

I have seen the recall on the tires.

The engine is the V8 5.4L.

Thanks in advance.

Trani might need work if it has done much towing. I wouldn't want an exc with a 5.4, but your expectations may differ.

Great engine - unless it's been beat, you probably won't have a problem for a long while. However, I'm not sure what tranny they bolt to the 5.4 in the Excursion. In F150's they use a lighter weight tranny. Might need some work if it has done alot of towing.
