stealth truck

how can one make a truck stealthy meaning invisible or harder to track on radar.... is it possible to apply a radar absorbing coating..... want to either absorb traffic radar or scatter in such a way that any returns are meaningless in terms of calculating true speed....

get stopped for speeding on a regular basis usually once a month when I am enroute to an appointment or enroute to a customers location......I fix computers and often get calls for downed systems where I must be at the location asap!

have a friend who recently told me a story about a time he was driving his truck.... he had hit a bump and blown a fuse in the tail lamp circuit.... he stopped and temporarily fixed the problem.. then he stopped for a burger.. on his way home, he gets pulled over for having no tail lights and eventually arrested...held in jail for a month......he was a little bit upset at the truck not working and being pulled over...He did pull over and stop.He tells me told the officer he did not have time for nonsense and needed to get home...

everyone has a bad day, which he was having, but no one needs someone else (Police, courts, jails) to make it worse.

There are technological solutions that will invalidate radar readings. However, if they find you using them, you will be breaking big rocks into small rocks for a long time.

the simple answer is "don't speed". The fact of the matter is that unless your father is in the seat next to you, dying of a heart attack, there is no reason in the world to exceed the posted speed limit when enroute to an appointment or a downed system. At best you MIGHT save two minutes or so by speeding...which is not going to make a great deal of difference for the folks at your destination, and, IS going to put you and the folks around you at far greater risk than is necessary or good. If you are simply late to an appointment...call and let them know. If they cannot be understanding about it...they are not folks you want to deal with anyway. If a computer is down another two minutes or so, it is not going to break the company..and if it will...they are too flaky for you to want to be associated with. No one is going to die from a computer being down for 20 minutes instead of 25 minutes, and, if they are, there had better be some redundant systems that allow switch over to a working system, or some sort of manual backup procedure. Bottom line is...DONT SPEED.

Hum...sounds like your friend was an aggressive smart-ass to the police officer (who might have been having a bad day himself). Any time you get testosterone being sprayed about, it tends to escalate WAY beyond any necessity. I suspect that if your "friend" had simply said that he was really sorry and would get the problem fixed ASAP, without smarting off to the cop, he probably would have gotten no more than a warning or perhaps a "fix it" ticket that would have been voided when he presented proof that the problem had been taken care of. At least around here, one has to do something pretty stupid (like taking a swing at the cop) or have a number of outstanding traffic tickets, or other recorded infringements of the law before getting free room and board for that long. Got to remember something about cops, when they are stopping you. That is that you are NOT in the position of power at that point. Not only can they make your life a living hell...they ARE the ones with the guns. So...be polite, don't talk too much, and, don't get pissed off. Regards dave mundt

Leave earlier and drive like a normal person. Nobody's downed system is worth a ticket (or worse) I do contract work for the Navy/Marine Corps and often I get the same "emergency" calls you probably do. I've *never* received a ticket on my way to fix their problems. Probably becasue I don't drive like a friggin' idiot.

Bovine Excrement. A month in jail for a blown tail light? That's a fuggin fix-it ticket. Month in jail my ass...

Maybe acting responsibly and not being a friggin' moron might help..

Leave sooner, slow down, and don't speed.

As far as your friend, no one goes to jail for improper equipment. There's more to that story.

That is one piece of stealth technology. However, it probably isn't sufficient if your truck has nice big flat square exterior panels like mine. If you're into stealth technology, read up on the F-117A and B-2 bombers and the F-22 fighter. I picked up this knowledge playing video games a while back ("Janes" combat flight simulators).

Anyways, take everyone else's suggestions and don't worry about building stealth craft. Leave that to the military and their contractors :-).

Your problem is you're trying to get there sooner than possible. Just slow down to as soon as possible and you'll be much better off.

As for your friend, it appears you've fallen in with a bad crowd. If you don't know how to deal with authority figures, join the army, they will help you.

Did a google search on automobile radar stealth technology, and only came up with 10,000 hits.

...too much of a hurry to look it up....

Cover the entire vehicle with aluminum foil. Don't forget to cover your head, so the transmissions from the Government satellites don't get through...

Just radar? You know in most urban areas the cops use laser guns so they can pick out individual vehicles in traffic, right?

I'll admit that I'm one of the vast majority of people who speed on a regular basis, and with very, very few tickets over the years to show for it. The truth is that the only way to guarantee that you'll never be stopped is to simply not speed. If you're like most folks and speed anyway then it's entirely up to your skills and luck to not run into a cop at a high enough speed to get his attention.

Even with the stealth capabilities of an F117 you'll still get stopped. Cops start wondering what's going on when they see vehicles that don't turn up on the detector, and you can bet that they're not going to simply assume that their radar gun is faulty.

Calling attention to yourself by jumping from lane to lane doesn't help much either.. My grandfather, as he was teaching me to drive, told me "It's not how fast you drive, it's how well you drive fast." heeheh

Wrong...er...right! Anyway, best way to build stealth into your truck is to simply cover the entire vehicle with about 1/2-inch of soft rubber material. This will absorb the incoming radar signals. However, when you hang your head out the window to see where you're going the radar will certainly imprint your eyeballs on the cops' equipment and give them an accurate reading. In this case you also need stealth goggles available at most Nazi-type Army/Navy stores. Good luck.
