Remove a steering wheel and column gearshift lever---out of a 92-ford Aerostar #1. Do i need to buy any special tools before leaving to the wrecking yard??

#2. can anyone walk me threw Step-buy-Step??..... these newer vehicles are kind of scarey when it comes to digging into the steering colleumn. ............ thank-you.

  1. .00 or so Service manual
  2. Steering wheel puller $??.00
  3. ???????? Other tools needed, ratchet, sockets (1 for steering wheel nut, 1 for puller), screwdrivers (Phillips and straight), hammer and punch and ???????? Possibly a 1/4" socket set as well, depends on what's under the wheel.
  4. The key for that vehicle and a very stiff piece of wire (0.020" approx, a heavy paperclip might work.) Or, a slide hammer to pop the lock.

Manual should have a list of tools needed, or give you an idea of what's needed.

The manual will do that.
