Tires

Does anybody know what tires Ford uses for the 250's? I'm getting ready to order a '04 with the LT265/75 -16E should I expect some crappy reject or are they good tires?

Jerry, I just ordered a 2004 F-250 XLT, Manual Transmission with 265s and the tires the use seem to depend on which day of the week and model it is. The Xls tire manufacturer were different than the XLTs. The size of the tire seems to matter as well. The 235s and the 265s were different makes on the same model. Go figure. I guess the lowest bidder of the week won.

I don't know what they are using today, but my 99 Lariat came with Firestones. (Not those involved in the recall.) I've never been a big fan of Firestone but I've got 75,000 miles on these tires with very few tire rotations. (My bad.) Guess I can't complain.

I hear you my friend. I never knew much about Firestone until I got a brand new service van at work a couple years back. It's a one ton van, I won't mention the manufacturer here :) (I didn't choose it, it was assigned to me). It came with Firestone's on it and they drove like a dream! Great ride, traction and awesome tread wear! I got 65,000 miles out of them with a one ton van loaded to the hilt and only rotated them two maybe three times. My company put Goodyear tires on when they wore out and they have been awful. Terrible ride, vibrate like nuts at highway speed. They must be out of round because I had them re-balanced five times in the last 40,000 miles. Wet traction is also terrible. Thankfully they are now in need of replacement (note mileage). Hope I can talk my company into Firestones. My

2003 PSD has Firestones on it as well. After 40,000 miles they still ride great, though the dealer I bought the truck from used claimed to have replaced two of them...it had 34,000 on it then.
