Trailer brake controller

Anyone got any reccommendations for a good trailer brake controller for an '02 Superduty?

I tow 3 different trailers from about 2K lbs to 10K lbs. I'd prefer a straight "plug it in and go" model as the truck has got the 7-pin plug on the ass-end and the wiring harness up front already.

Thx

The previous recommendation for the Prodigy is the way to go. I have used a couple different types and the Prodigy is the winner hands down. I tow a

14,000 lb 5th wheel and have never had the control that is offered by the Prodigy. You select the 'boost' depending on the conditions. i.e. - - No boost- in a parking lot 1st boost- city streets 2nd boost- Interstate 3rd boost (max)- going down hill

Just push the button and it sequences to the different boosts.

Can't argue with this, but my question is, does anybody have any experience yet with the new controller option in the F350's? I will be in the market next year for a new F350 diesel and would like to know. thanx

Local dealer also recommended the Prodigy unit, but told me it was about $330.. I'm gonna google for one and I'm sure I'll be able to beat that price.

As for the integrated controller in the '05s.. I have read and heard nothing but good about it. I asked the parts guy if I could get the various pieces to fit to my '02 and evidently Ford doesn't even offer that controller as an accessory. Factory installed option only I guess..

Thanks for the info on the controller. Gonna go "shopping" before I hit the sack..

Camper World offers the Prodigy for about $120 plus about $30-$50 installation.

I believe that the new Ford controller option was a joint effort by Tekonsa (sp) using Prodigy technology, but, improved with sensors from the truck and Master Brake cylinder. My next truck will also have the new option.

$30-$50? It's as simple as screwing in two mounting screws and plugging in the connector...

I didn't recall the exact price. That was just a guess. I'd rather guess high than low-ball it.

The HIGHEST price on ebay is only $97.

With 7 billion dollars shipping. :)

Picked it up at Camping World today and got it installed in about 8 minutes. Lugged the 4K lb trailer around for a bit today to get the thing set up. Another 30 mins at the most. Works great.

The Trailer Brake Controller on the 2005 Superduty is a great feature, unfortunately most of the techs in the dealerships do not fully understand the system. It does not work with every trailer type and is also speed dependent. If your trailer is problem free, and is the correct type of trailer, it's a great feature!
