yet another oil sensor question

I'm an avid Ford guy, but notice one thing I don't like on the F series trucks; pre 1998.

I noticed Ford just has a "switch" for a sensor, which swings the panel meter over the the "normal" area; rather a cheapo way and useless for watching it. I wonder if anyone has converted the sender to the modulator type (analog), like what GM and Dodge (I think) does. I have not check out what the rating of the meter in the instrument cluster is, yet. (how much current it takes to run the meter).

Otherwise I'm thinking of installing a "T" in the line with either an idiot light and/or buzzer, so if and when it happens (lost of pressure) I'll know right away, instead of the next time I happen to look at the gauge.

A buzzer? That should be interesting...lol If you intend to install a T, why not go ahead and buy/install a mechanical oil-gauge? That way you will_know_what's going on. BTW: some oil-gauges come with plastic lines. These are prone to fail at the block because of high heat/engine vibration.....it will take a while, but it can/does eventually happen. A copper-line kit is available and should be used instead of the plastic.

Agreed on the plastic. Reason I was going electronic to avoid bringing the oil into the cab. Silly I guess.

Yrs ago I installed a VDO sender and gauge to a '93 Ranger, actually the sender has dual outputs; one to sound a buzzer and one analog output. I used the buzzer one to power a relay to control the stock gauge. Still works great.
