If that light is on, it means there's something wrong, it's not a maintenance reminder light. "Service Vehicle Soon" indicates some problem other than one affecting emissions, which would turn on the Service Engine Soon or Check Engine light. This could include one of the accessories run by the body computer module, or maybe the transmission..

A generic OBD II scan tool should be able to reset both the SERVICE ENGINE SOON and SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicators. However, you will need more than a generic scan tool in order to determine the cause of the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON light. An SVS light can be triggered by a problem with the ABS/traction control, powertrain control module, or body control module or from loss of communication between the instrument panel and the class II serial bus. You need to determine and correct the cause of the SVS light before you reset it.

Depending on the cause of the problem, the Service Vehicle Soon light may just reset itself after several drive cycles. Start it up, drive a mile, then shut off the vehicle. Wait a minute, then repeat. Do this 3 times. If the light is still on, then you have a non-intermittant problem and you will need to fix the underlying cause of the problem.
