2002 Malibu

Hi All

I bought this used car a month ago and the Dealer never gave me a manual. I have the Radio- CD-cassette combination and I would like to know how to program it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks Larry

What do you mean by 'program it'? If you are trying to set radio stations, as far as I know, you just tune to the station and hold down the numbered key until it beeps.

There are other buttons like "TRAF" and "SCAN" that do nothing and need to be programmed. I already set up the stations to the numbered buttons.

Thanks

I'd demand they they get you a manual. It's an integral part of owning a car, for specs, maintenance procedures, schedules, etc.. Or you could get one on ebay for $5 or so.

Those do not get programmed. They are for the search by type function. Since you have those it sounds like you have the AM/FM/CD with RDS.

Top left knob is power/volume

Middle toggle for Seek/ProgScan allows you to seek strong signals when pushed on the left side and seeking through the set channels in the radio when pushed on the right.

Lower left large knob is tuning/display(switches station/time and will display the time if you push and hold it when the vehicle is off)

Below that knob are the clock set buttons. H/M

Top slit is CD label side UP and please don't try using MP3 or paper labeled discs in it.

Button next to it ejects the CD.

Next is the display with time/track/station and audio adjustment visual.

Next row is the station presets/CD controls

1-6 are set by tuning the station manually or with seek. Then press the button and hold it till you hear a beep. You have two banks of FM and one bank of AM, those are selected with the AM/FM button.

PREV/NEXT switch tracks on the CD, REV/FWD allows you to scan through a track on a CD, CDpicture and RND are for the CD The first allows you to select a different disc if you have the changer and the RND makes the radio play the CD(S) in random order and in random track order.

CD/AUX allows you to select the CD if one is in and your listening to the radio. Aux is used if you have the factory CD changer or the optional tape deck in other models.

The INFO button is used to display RDS channel info when available (it will show song titles/ station info/ web site addresses and whatever the station programs in.

SEEK TYPE sets various genres of music like rock, country, gospel and others. This ONLY works if the station has the type ID in their RDS info. TRAFFIC will seek out channels with Traffic in their ID. It doesn't look for the low power stations you see in some areas with construction or accident info.

AUTO TONE has some preset tone shapes in there for different music types but those are very subjective.

AUTO VOL turns the volume up/down based on the vehicles speed.

The small knob on the right does a bunch of stuff. It allows you to select the type of seek the SEEK TYPE button looks for. Push Seek Type and then turn the knob to see which types they have.

Push it without any other buttons being pushed and it allows you to adjust the Bass, Treble, Balance, Fader

Oh and FYI IF you pull that radio out and install an aftermarket radio you lose the warning chimes and audio for Onstar. The blinking LED is showing you that the security in the radio is working. That radio is also designed to look at the vehicles computer and read a piece of the VIN number. If that number doesn't match the number in it's memory it will not work.
