2004 Grand Prix - Fan Issue

My mom says the fan on her '04 Grand Prix will intermittently turn off and on - most notably in wet conditions. Unfortunately this isn=92t a constant occurrence. My girlfriend=92s =9201 Malibu had a similar issue which was solved by replacing the resistor pack =96 could it be a similar issue with the Grand Prix? I realize that it=92s virtually impossible to diagnose via this forum, curious if anyone else has experienced the same problem.

Thanks for any info.

Assuming you mean hvac fan and not engine cooling fan it could be: worn fan brushes or bearings resistor pack switch loose or corroded plugs climate control module (if she has that)

Does high speed work when that occurs? High speed goes through a relay and does not get resisted.

Thanks for any info.

The fan goes off and on depending on temperature. Or do you mean the blower for the interior?

Sorry guys - I meant the fan (or blower, if that's the proper term) for the interior heat and a/c.

I'll have to ask her about switching it to the highest speed and see if that works. Using that logic, would the resistor's function then be to resist the amount of power that flows to the fan/blower, allowing the driver to control the speed at which the fan/blower pushes air?

My weak attempt at deductive reasoning...
