CHEVROLET TRACKER

I've purchased a 2001 Tracker and I'm requesting some information, please. It did not come with cruise control nor power locks. Would these have to be dealer installed options or would other shops to it too.

If it is like the 98+ S10s, they are already prewired for cruise control. All you have to do is add in the Turn signal switch that has the cruise control on it, and mount the box and run the cable underneath the hood to the throttle body. But Im not too sure about a Tracker tho. Check under your hood next to the firewall and see if you see a plug hanging off of it that has a cap over it thats not being used.

Im not sure if it would limit you, but it would make it a ton easier to install the factory cruise control because as far as the switch goes it would just be a plug and play. Only thing that would be the least bit hard would be installing the box to the firewall and runnin the cable to your throttle body.

Hi, I wouldn't be doing this myself. In fact I don't even know what to look for to see if it is wired for cruise control. Is it very likely that a 2001 Tracker without many options would be pre wired for cruise control?

Well, the truck that i put it on was a plain s10 xtreme. 2.2L 4 cyl, manual windows/locks/mirrors. So I wouldn't doubt it not being wired you'd just have to check for that capped plug.

Hi, I went to a Chevy dealer and he said that the 2001 is not prewired but he did not look himself nor did he give me any clues. He said he has a person that installs aftermarket cruise controls for around $200. What do you think? Can you give me any specific info on how to find that capped plug.
