GM3800

my 97 pontiac bonneville idles at 1600 to 1700 rpm when cold and will only drop down by several kicks of the gas pedal to 1300 no matter how long i wait . please help from hot rod pop 1945

- Vacuum leaks
- Stuck/binding throttle body or cable
- Faulty TPS or IAC motor
Is the "check engine" light on??

Got any coolant loss? If not the engine will idle around that range because it is COLD. When it reaches 180+ deg F does it still idle that high?
