Try changing the gas cap. Or running it with the cap off for a little while and see if the problem goes away. You may have a vent problem. Once the
vacuum in the tank overpowers the pump, the car will shut off. Then the tank will vent through any point necessary. You will get a fuel smell, but no leakage. Then you will be able to start the car again with no problem.
