not to be a dolt, but are your brake pads good? There is a metal prong that sticks out, if it touches, your brake light comes on. You could need pads, or the sensor is bent?

Very few GM cars/trucks have actual brake sensors that light up the brake light on the dash. Certainly, not a 91 S-15. The metal sensor that you are referring to simply sets up a squealing noise when the pad is worn enough for that metal wear sensor to touch the rotor surface. It then vibrates and makes the squealing noise.
