i do my own brake work and own a 01 malibu i usualy bought cheap 20$ pads and would have to replace every 6 months i purchased more expensive pads about 50$ and they havent been replaced in 2 years are still good ur dealer is just trying to save a buck and costing u more do ur own brakes any only takes 30 minutes all u need is a jack lug nut wrench,3/8 allen and a c clamp to push caliper back
