TBS for Chevrolet Venture 2000? Where?

Hi there,

I am trying to find service bulletins for my Chevrolet Venture (2000) which is falling apart. Can anyone point me to a site with these? Couldn't find one after searching for it for 60 minutes (I am not the best with the internet...).

As well, I read somewhere that there is a secret warranty concerning Venture's roof rusting away (yep, mine is as well). Where can I find some "official" information about this?

If you need to know why I will never buy another GM van, please see a truncated list of some of the problems I had had since buying new 2000, The car as only 90,000 KM or 50,000 Miles.

1- The ABS light is always on: 2 Chevrolet dealers and one ABS specialist have not idea why. It cost me, so far, 500$ in diagnostics alone, to no avail. 2- Passenger side power window works intermittently 3- Driver side windows gets stuck halfway up. Needs help to continue up. 4- Rust: well pretty much everywhere! Yet it was well maintained: washed every week, under carriage, waxed every 2 months, no chips, the rust is from the inside out, etc... 5- Head gasket leak (they were nice, they charge me only 1/2 price, or $400) 6- Rear wiper works only when sunny (!)
  1. GM is of no help when problems 1, 2 and 5 started within the warranty period. (the others started within 10K of the end of the warranty). Since they could not figure out the problem, they procrastinated and did diagnostics after diagnostic until I was over the warranty period and then told me that I needed to pay for more diagnostic.

Anyhow. Any help on the TBS would be great, as well as if you have any information on my ABS problems: Apparently it is not a sensor or module "on or around the wheels" but "somewhere in the dashboard" (technician direct quote) and the Chevrolet dealer wants another $300 only to find the problem (but not to fix it). I cannot afford a new van now, but I am saving for one. So this one has to last me another 3 years.

Cheers

FYI, you may have more success searching for TSB (Technical Service Bulletin).

The roof is TSB 02-08-67-006B from Mar. 14, 2003. I don't see any mention of warranty coverage.

That's the only TSB I see that mentions any of the problems you describe.

However, any shop worth paying diagnostic fees to should be able to hook up a scanner and find the ABS codes. A GM Tech II scanner MAY be needed to run ABS diagnostics. If the light is on, a code SHOULD be set. The control module for the ABS is in the engine bay right by the master cylinder (above the steering shaft) and may be the culprit.

Were your window problems solved? Sounds like the regulators are dying or overheating. The rear wiper could be an electrical fault. Those are the worst to diagnose. Intermittant electrical problems are like intermittant computer problems, you can only track them down when they've actually failed.

Thanks. TSB not TBS. Thank you very much.
