programming the door opener in the mirror?

Gents;

I have two identical 07 SFL's with the same problem. I also have two garage doors each with an Overhead Door Phantom opener.

On therear view mirror there are three door buttons: a left, a right and a larger one supposedly for use with double width doors.

Following the instructions in the drivers manual(s) I reset then reprogrammed the openers. I can get the right door button to work on both cars but NOT the left button on both cars.

Has anyone else had issues with the programming of both buttons? Although I use my handheld opener for the left door, it would be nice, after these past 2+ years to be able to use the in-car button for the left door.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Thanks

Any button can be used for any door. The old remotes were fairly simple, the ones with rolling codes are a PITA. I programmed mine to use with doors at work and someone had to be on a cage on the forklift (opener is about 15' high) to push a button on the opener while I did the sequence on the mirror.

We went through the sequence quite a few times and frankly, I don't recall what finally worked. Check the instructions again to be sure you are not missing a step or getting the sequence wrong.

I concur entirely with the response above, even down to not remembering what finally worked. I do remember that once I figured it out for the one vehicle, the second vehicle was a breeze. And yes you absolutely need a second person for this.

good luck

I know its been some time but I finally resolved this issue thanks to a TSB retrieved from the Hyundai service web site. It described an alternate programming method if the normal programming is unsuccessful for the HomeLink.

This revised process takes less than 30 secords and requires only ONE person:

While sitting in the vehicle press and hold the desired homelink button to be programmed until it starts to blink.

Now, on the door opener, press the "Learn" button to set programming mode.

Return to your vehicle and press the previously selected button for 2 seconds and release. Repeat this two more times. The HomeLink should now be programming and the door should be responding as expected.

I almost fell off my seat when this process actually worked on both my '07 SF's.

Happy Hyundai everyone.
