Weird driver-side window feature on 02 XG-350L

If you hold the unlock button down for a second long time when opening the car, the driver's side window opens. You must turn on the ignition to close it. The feature is documented in the manuel.

Of what possible benefit is this feature? It is a real nuisance!

Only reason I can think of is to let out some hot air in the summer. Nissan has a window open button on the Maxima. OTOH, if you hit the button too long by accident, in the rain, it would be a serious PITS

Why/how would you do this inadvertently? It only takes a momentary press to unlock the car.

Probably the same way I've unlocked my trunk a couple of times. I admire your self control though.

The other weird "feature" of the XG350 is that after the ignition switch has been on then off the only way to get the running lights off is to open and close the drivers door. This is a pain if you are working on the car and lean in from the passenger side to turn the ignition on for a second. And equally painful if you ever need to get the vehicle parked where the drivers side is very close to a wall (long term storage) where the driver would then get out the passenger side. I can think of a reason for the window (let the heat out) but I can't think of a one for requiring the drivers door to close in order to turn out all the lights or drain the battery if it doens't happen. Same sort of thing also happens when you reconnect the battery...the running lights come on and will stay on forever until you start the car and turn the car off (then open and close the drivers door). Korean quirks?

It sounds to me like you have a problem. You should be able to turn off the lights on the light switch. The shouldn't ever come on when they're turned off.

Even if you leave them on, when you remove the key from the ignition and open the driver's door, they should go out. If you turn them back on with the key removed, the car will assume you want them on and leave them on.
