3.2L V6 in Rodeo... aftermarket cams? lifters?

I keep reading the "ticking" posts... haven't done a complete engine flush, but did switch to a 0W oil some time ago. The ticking has lessened some, but still there. Just wondering if there's anything available aftermarket yet, or if you still have to buy it all through the Isuzu dealer.

that lists amaster engine rebuild kit, which of course doesn't come with lifters orcams, and I'm wondering if anyone here has used any of the lifters fromhere?(they're advertised separately within the rebuild kit description). Not sure that I even need to replace anything, just checking in advance in case I do. I'd rather either have everything on hand when I start or at least very quick access to it. Close to 175K-180K on it now, somewhere around there anyway, so I figure I might as well do it up right when I do it. Body, frame etc are good enough that there's no reason I shouldn't get another 150K+ out of it.

Sounds like you're interested in doing some pretty serious stuff and there are a lot of people there who are very active and can help. Serious modding and repairs goin' on there. They have lots of pointers and sources for parts. Just be sure to use the search tool before asking a question. They will help but many things have been asked and answered many times.

By the way... it takes a while for the 0w30 Mobil1 to work... took mine about two changes even though I used a motor flush too.

I still get ticking on occasion, on cold mornings especially. It doesn't start in immediately but in a couple minutes, before the motor has warmed up. By the time the motor is warm (and I can turn the heater on full blast) it is gone. Curious.

I have 125k on my motor so far. From what I've read, you should be able to get 200-250k before needing overhaul on these motors. So long as you give it good maintenance.

i've got a`93 rodeo with 120k with a 3.2L and also get a tick from one lifter when the engine is cold, which then dissipates after it warms up.

i suspect it has hydraulic lifters and one is shot. when the engine gets nice and hot and the oil thins the lifter probably soaks some up and does its job. just a hunch.

if it's nothing like that. what about a valve adjustment? might that help?
