i own a 1998 xj8 for a year now . and never had any probelms but now the car dont start in park . only in neutral . and after it starts the rpm's stay up too 3000 and it skips a lot .a light comes on[ fail safe engine module] it drives ok once it starts going but it shifts wird and and it just idle's too fast [does any one know what the problem is ...PLEASE ANSER BACK IF U KNOW appreciated THANKS
The car is running in a compromised or "limp home" mode.
This is an electronic failure that YOU won't be able to fix so take it to the Jag dealer and accurately describe the symptoms; then ask for a "repair cost estimate" to focus their attention on the matter, and its cost, so you have them do the repair and not run away!
