Gearbox slipping in drive

Does anyone know why the Borg Warner 65 Gearbox on my XJC would slip in drive. Changing to low doesn't help but changing to reverse then back to drive seems to fix it for awhile. Parking uphill and leaving the car for several hoours seems to exacerbate the problem. Parking downhill doesn't. Is it a valve that is allowing ATF to drain to part of the gearbox where it shouldn't be? Thankyou in appreciation of taking the time to answer this question. Gary

Sounds like your torque convertor check valve is bad, allowing the convertor to drain. Also the valve bodies are known to come loose and need retightened.

Have you done the obvious - checked the fluid level?
