interesting story

A neighbour of mine has sold his house after he and wife have been out of country for 3 1/2 years. Unknown to me in his third car garage is a 1989 XJS convertible 2-seat V-12 only 29000 miles, the car has not been touched since March '02. He called the Jaguar dealer and they told him not to try anything with the car. They would come pick it up and take it to the shop. He and I talked it over and decided if any damage had been done by this long sit , us trying to start it could not hurt it any more. Of course the battery was totally flat. So we installed a new battery and turn the key to the on position to see what happened. We could hear the fuel pump prime itself. The fuel guage showed empty. Went and got 5 gallons of fresh premium fuel and poured it into the tank. We then turned the key on again to check for any obvious fuel leaks ( found none ) checked all other levels and aired up the tires. We were ready to go. Turned the key to start and after about 4-5 seconds the V-12 started, ran a little rough for about 2-3 minutes then started to smooth out. We let the car idle for about

30mins all the while checking for problems. then we backed it out of the garage and around the block a few times slowly as the tires felt egg shaped. Ran it up to 60 mph on the freeway a few times . it appears nothing happened to this car in sitting in dry garage in Phoenix. They will be selling this car . I would say this car is 99% perfect, everything works as new, its original yellow paint is perfect, even the a/c is ice cold. Any ideas on value from anybody? I think this says something for Jaguar quality. Scott

Kelley Blue Book lists the value as you describe it in Phoenix as around $7,000 private party value.
