67 Jeepster Commando brake upgrade?

Hi all, I've replaced everything in the brake system on the 67 Kaiser Jeepster Commando except the booster. (mostly stock with 225 v6, T400, shifter console, power brakes, etc). Finding a replacement for the booster has proven to be next to impossible by asking for the direct replacement part. Anyone here know what other power brake boosters will drop into this (if any) or at least one that won't require me to hack up my nice original firewall. I'm open to replacing the master cylinder with the booster if required, but I'd rather not since that was rebuilt with everything else. I'm obviously not against modifying things (like my Willys @

but prefer to keep the Jeepster in the original 'Survivor Form' it currently enjoys. Are there rebuild kits for the original booster? I've never had one apart, but I'm not afraid to open it up if I can get the parts (and some decent instructions about what to do once I'm perring into the guts of the booster itself). I suppose I could also just send it to the guys at 'The Rebuilding Factory'

but I'm just cheap enough that I'd prefer to do it myself if I can. ;) Cheers, - Jeff G

The old Motors Manuals used to have brake booster rebuilding instructions. I remember when people would rebuild almost everything by themselves, even rewind windshield wiper motors. The Rebuilding Factory quotes $85 for an "average" brake booster. This is cheap enough, considering the trouble you can get into, trying to rebuild something like this on your own.

and find the chatboard for the American Jeepster Club and someone there will point you in the right direction, or have one for you. A Scout booster fits with only 2 holes drilled.

Thanks for the tip about Motors, my Dad has a ton of those going all the way back to the 40s that he's promised to give me.

Just got the quote from RF ... $175. I guess the Jeepster boosters aren't 'average'. :P

I can live with a couple new holes in the firewall. I just didn't want to bore out a big garfed-up hole to fit something in there. I'll have to check out the AJC, that's actually where I bought the Jeepster from in the first place.

Cheers, - JJ
