97 ZJ front shock removal question

Went to replace the front shocks and found that the upper attachment for the one on the left is underneath a rats nest of brake plumbing. I can get at it with an open end wrench but if it slips it looks likely to bugger up a brake line.

Is there an accepted procedure for getting that puppy off without endangering the brakes?

Can you get to it with a deepwell socket and extension?

On my 93 I wound up using an air wrench.

Nope. The path that it needs to take is as convoluted as the one taken by the bullet that killed Kennedy.

Turned out not to be particularly tight--I tried an open end on it and it came out fine.
