Diesel Grand Jeep Cherokee '05

Hi:

Anybody knows if Jeep '05 (new model) will have the diesel (Mercedes 6 cyl or other) engine available?

Thanks,

Dan

The problem is your diesel is high in sulphur. I heard that you were doing to get cleaner diesel, but I don't know when.

The last official date is 2009, but rumors are that as soon as the diesels start selling, most companies will swap over ASAP.

Think AutoWorld noted that most of the diesels will be 47 state models only as they start coming in. E.g. the VW Touareg diesel is supposed to be available late this year in the US. Plus the Libby. Doesn't look like the Merc turbodiesel will be in anything for '05, but that could hopefully change quickly.

Ultra low is a tenth of that , < 50 parts per million or 0.005%.

That's great news! I'd love to see more diesel SUVs. I had an 86 or 88 Diesel Suburban for a while that was a great vehicle - 20 mpg everywhere,

32 gallon tank, power to spare, surprisingly good acceleration. Nothing like having all that space and a 600 mile gas tank!

Hi:

Thanks for all the replies. I know about the Jeep Liberty diesel options available in the next months in the US.

My original question, as per the subject, is about the upcoming new Grand Cherokee ('05) model: does anybody knows if the diesel is also going to be available for the Grand Jeep Cherokee?

Thanks,

Dan
