It is pay-per-view. It's also looking for a new sponsor, for on Wednesday, December 17, after receiving complaints from customers, family values organizations, and Dodge dealers, DiamlerChrysler's Dodge division pulled the plug on sponsorship of this event. Not only that, the AIDS charity organization that was going to receive donations from the $19.95 price for the PPV event had pulled out as well. Apparently, the top brass at DiamlerChrysler knew nothing about the Dodge sponsorship at first, for the idea of sponsoring this event was hatched be a lower level executive (who happened to be female). This episode is somewhat remeniscent of what Dodge tried to do with the ABC network version of "The Lawrence Welk Show" just prior to its

1955 network debut. The Dodge folks tried to force Mr. Welk to add to his show a group of dancing girls and/or a comedian. Lawrence, however, wanted none of that. He warned them that having a comedian, or even worse, a bunch of dancing girls, would end up being a turn-off to potential viewers, and potential Dodge customers. I recommend reading Mr. Welk's autobiography, "Wunnerful! Wunnerful" for a more complete story. Perhaps it was the spirit of Mr. Welk himself, as well as the complaints, that led to DiamlerChrysler's reversal.

Thanks for reading.

Hopefully she was the highest level executive to approve the idea. If she only came up with the idea and a man had to give the final go-ahead, he is most likely looking for new employment at this time.
