Help with sourcing Lift Struts for 89 Cherokee LTD

Hi:

I'm looking to replace the rear door lift struts on my 89 Cherokee Ltd. Any suggestions on a good replacement and a reliable on line source? Thanks for any advice.

I recently replaced my 97 GJC's struts. Actually quite easy, remember you need something to hold up the liftgate (step ladder worked for me).

I contacted Jonathan Evans the Internet Parts Specialist for the Pomoco Auto Group ,

They have four convenient ways for you to order . "1. Online , through our secure order form

The savings over my local dealer were very significant. Jonathan found the part numbers confirmed them for me and I had them in about a week. Real pleasant service. My local dealer had me on hold for longer.

Hope they have the parts for an 89, they might be the same until they switched to a steel liftgate. I had an 88, it was indestructable! Survived me, two college age sons and then was sold to someone who commuted into NYC. Son saw it a nember of times in Manhattan still going strong.

Any parts store up here in Canada carries them. About $45.00 or so for our 88's.

I had a look at JC Whitney but I can't find the lift struts anywhere. Do you have a part number? Thanks.

Thanks Bill. Should have thought of that.

On a related note - has anyone changed their struts? I know that it's a bit of an issue holding the lift gate up, but I can't figure out how the hardware is removed. Any tips? Thanks.
