Larger Tires on JK

Has anyone put larger tires on their stock JK Rubicon. I'm wanting larger tires with minimal effort and want to keep my stock rims. Thanks in advance!

A local JK owner put 33's on it with just a budget boost and it worked out very well.

Just remeber that bigger tires like this reduce your effective pulling power with stock axle ratios and reduce brake too do to increased tire mass and leverage over brakes. There is no free lunch here. Keep this in mind.

Hmmm. So I have a couple of large jet skiies that I pull. Could be a noticable issue?

Thanks!

They come stock with 32 inch tires stock so 33 inch will probably not affect things too much.

14 foot flat skiff maybe 300 lbs, with a trailer (don't know how much it weighs, but is is overbuilt), I have a much harder time stopping. It certainly doesn't brake like it did with 31's. But it is liveable, just allow ample stopping room.

It could very well be. If it has limited resever power for you towing needs now, it will get worse and as I said braking will be reduced a bit too. The only way you can honestly maintian same pulling power with bigger tires is a axle ratio change which can be expensive but it does restore your overall effective drive ratio when using bigger tires. Some think they can tune this out with a exhaust of air filter but you cannot as it deals with simple physics and mechanical advange over the load and more engine torque is require for same ground tractive effort. ALso remember that this "power loss" will be felt in all gears including starting a load out on boat ramp so you know where you are now performance wise and simply understand the towing performance will degrade with bigger tires. How much of a issue this is for you again depends on "where" you are at now in the towing performance curve with your load. Another way to look at this, if you install bigger tires with stock axle gears, it has the same net effect as taller axle gears with stock tires or a net loss of effective pulling power in every gear due to a taller overall effective final drive ratio.

The problem is when you do not have a lot of room due to something unexpected happens at the wrong time (like they usually do) and you need to stop. Something to think about anyway.

This guy is just a insecure Troll so take with a grain of aslt what he says and get a few laugh (as I do) out of his childish inmature actions. Some come to News Groups to try to help while other like Heatware and a few other here are only here to cause trouble and feed try to satisfy some insecurtiy issues they have.

What is ASLT? Advanced Solid Logic Technology? Must be on your third beer already.

Then why do you sound so frustrated in your post? Btw you still haven't learned how to spell 'iMmature' correctly. I think this is the....8th time I've pointed that out to you?

Then you must come to the NG's to injure people.

Correction, I'm here to prevent trouble 'you' cause.

I'm perfectly secure. Despite how many times you say otherwise, it doesn't make it true. Thanks for your concern though.

Yes, secure in being insecure for sure. First sign of real insecurity is denial. Anotherone is trying to make others bad to make yourself feel good........ Knock yourself out.

Well then, that brings up some interesting issues regarding yourself. You have stated that you would admit when you post wrong or misleading information, which has been pointed out numerous times. You have yet to acknowledge and admit (clear example of someone being in denial) when posting wrong and misleading information even when it is pointed out. You resort to your usual tactics of calling those who spot your errors as being "inmature," "childish," "crying" etc. When you get right down to it, you are nothing more than a liar and a hypocrite, aren't you.

Like when you claimed that you bought your first vehicle before I was born, to which I challenged; 'when was that?' You have yet to reply with an answer. I guess the question was to hard for you. Or, you realized that answering that question would only prove again what a BSer you are.

Just curious, how many times have YOU been knocked out? (bet it's more than 10)
