Hi everyone. I have a 95 YJ with a Dana 35 rear, and it is leaking gear oil from the passenger side of the pumpkin were the tube is pressed in. It is not a leaky cover. I wipe it down at night, and it does not leak until its driven. It is wet down the axle housing to the shock perch. I know its the joint where the housing is pressed into the pumpkin. Is there a fix or this?

I had a Dodge Ram Van with this identical problem, and they replaced the axle housing under warranty. That's the fix. How much is it leaking?

Well it leaves a pretty good "stain" on the driveway at night. 2" dia. I know that it doesn't take many drops to spread out and look like alot, but it seems more that a slight leak. It is daily. Any suggestions?

You'd like to find out if it is just a leak, or a sign of something more serious, like an axle tube working loose. I really can't think of any way to fix it. I have seen old axles get like this, but usually the joint just gets a little wet, not dripping. I figure if there was any other way to fix it, they wouldn't have put a complete new housing in my Ram Van. If you had a complete machine shop, you could press a new axle tube in there...

You guys made me smile. :O) Check the breather for clogging. The breather has to let air pressure in and out as the unit heats and cools. If the breather is clogged and your jeep is sitting out in the heat, pressure builds in the unit and can force oil out seals. At least you should give it a check. It worked for a friend of mine,................ like magic.
I guess you could have it welded all around. This is often done with Ford 8.8s to prevent spun tubes so it is not something out of the ordinary.
A good way to tell if this is the problem is to see if the axle seals are also leaking. (:o(
