Lifting my YJ

Hi All.

Could someone give me some basic info on putting a lift on my 95 YJ. I plan on doing some light off roading, and really don't know where to begin. I don't want to go with any real large tires. I have a set of

30" BFG A/Ts I want to use, but I need some advice about how to go about this project and what to expect. Ant info would be helpful.

Thank you,

Greg

30" tires should run without lifting. You may have to add a couple washers to the steering stops so the tires don't rub on the springs at full crank.

As for lifts > Hi All.

Just FYI, if you are removing the rear shackles, the bolt comes out just fine without cutting. All you have to do is undo the nut, pull off the outside shackle and pop the rubber grommet out of the frame. The bolt then has tons of room to slide sideways out between the tank and frame.

30" is a stock size and came on a lot of Jeeps! It does require the correct wheel to keep it from rubbing, I bought a set of factory Jeep 15x8 and didn't do anything at all to make them work.

Four choices.

Spring, Shackle, body, and the best choice, SPRING OVER. Of course, I don't think spring-over is right for the OP.

Just put the tires on. They'll fit, and if you're doing 'light off-roading' you shouldn't have any problems.

I've run 30" tires on my stock '93 YJ for a couple years now and I've never had a problem in all of the 'light' off-roading I've done. FYI, my tires were from a TJ sport with the stock rims. Pay attention to your backspacing if you're not using stock rims and adjust steering stops accordingly.

Or, like Carl said, SPR> Four choices.

You have to back a page or so but I think you'll like 'em.
