OT - yellowstone pictures

the caldera is clearly marked on the map they give you as you come through the gate. no warnings from the rangers, although they wouldnt do much good. my kids thought they geysers and hot springs were really cool until i told them what heats all that water. :-)

Most of the wolves that live there now are northern Timber wolfs, There was a big discussion years ago (maybe 10yrs or so) about moving wolfs from northern Ontario to Yellowstone. Local wolf populations were hunted almost completely out, so they (tree huggers I guess) moved 100 timber wolfs down, IIRC there was to be a hunting ban that was to be lifted after 4 years, to allow the population to pick up and then to help control them.
