Umm, we were told our throttle position sensor was dead about 8 years ago. I cleaned the connection on it and, well, it's still working great.
I recommend a spray contact cleaner on all the plugs and sockets on any sensor on the Jeeps. There are two on the throttle body including the TPS. You can get this cleaner at electronic stores. WD40 will do for a cleaner in a pinch.
The TPS or throttle position sensor is on the side of the throttle body. It isn't hard to replace or clean. You have to undo a clamp and remove the plastic tube to get to it. You can clean it's connections without having to remove the tube.

First, you have to prove that you're a girl as I won't help guys. Post a picture of yourself with today's edition of the New York Times opened to page six.
Where a red hat, a pearl necklace and smile as if you're Daddy was buying you an ice cream cone.
Oh yeah, stand next to your Jeep with the hood opened so we can see what you've got.

Mike is right. WD40 will work when nothing else is available. It will displace moisture and help the contact of the connection.
Don't use TV tuner contact cleaner. It will work for a while but cause more problems later.
The best contact cleaner I have fount was at the local Home Hardware store. It is the stuff the motorized wheelchair people use. I have used it exclusively.
You should have no problem finding something similar at your local hardware store or auto parts supply place.Open the connection and soak the contact surfaces. When you plug it back together, it should be good for a long time. If you don't feel comfortable with this, then just soak the connector the best you can and it should help.

I find WD40 dries sticky which then attracts dirt, just to voice a different opinion !

That's WEAR a red hat ...
Sheesh.
Attracts dirt, but keeps the moisture out.

And YOUR Daddy.
Sheesh twice. ;-)
I prefer the electronic contact cleaner and I use dielectric grease on the plug's rubber seal. I have crossed 42" of standing water successfully so I figure it works well.
I also find WD40 attracts a bit of dirt, but if the plug skirt seals the insides, I don't mind too much. I figure the next time it gets shot with the real cleaner.

AND... If she's wearing a red hat she's likely old enough to me married to your daddy, so you done WANT to see her in just a string of earls and a hat!
Sheesh thrice!
¿ ¿ ¿ ¿ "A string of **earls**" ? ? ? ?

I guess no self-respecting Earle likes to think of himself as part of a string !
"old enough to me married" and " you done want to see her" ????
Clearly, the excitement is carrying us all away :-)

So, you're the Captain of the Grammar Police while I'm just a lowly cadet? ;-)
THANKS KATE! Now I have that image stuck in my head all day ...
Kate, are you implying at all girls eligible for the Red Hat Club are undesirable?
Implied ? She downright stated it :-)

I know a few hotties that are eligible for the Red Hat Club. I dated one for a while until she wised up and kicked me to the curb.
