This is wierd.

After doing my motor mounts everything was fine, till this evening.

When I back up at speed (or even rev the engine in reverse with the brakes applied) the ABS pump comes on and I can feel it in the brake pedal.

Never had that happen before. Didn't know the pump would come on without the brakes being depressed or when the wheels were static.

Gonna check in the morning to see if I knocked something loose. But a quick glance doesn't indicate anything wrong. I may have leaned on the ABS computer connector and need to clean/reattach it. But that's a long shot.

I'm betting one of the ABS sensors or the wiring to the sensors was damaged while installing the new motor mounts.... I'd look at the front ABS sensors mounted onto each brake assembly very closely for any signs of damage.

Jerry Bransford did pass the time by typing:

Gonna do those today as the wheels get rotated.

Morning light and a fresh cup o joe later.......

I think it's the supercharger bumping up against the brake booster when the engine torques in reverse. That in turn transmits vibration to the ABS speed sensor mounted in the same area and tricking the ABS into activating.

The old mounts had sunk about 1/4" and were rock hard. The new ones haven't sunk under engine load yet and are still nice and spongy.

Long story short, I should have replaced the transmission mount. Crawled under the ZJ this morning (DANG COLD GARAGE FLOOR!!!) and found out it's shot also. I think that replacing that mount will level out the engine and give me better clearance.

..I hope.. ..I hope..

Now off to track down parts.
