When replace serpentine belt ?? 2000 GC

My 2000 has 70K miles on it. Upon inspection, my drive belt (serpentine belt) appears in good shape, with no visable cracks etc. The manual is a bit vague about this, but it seems to say replace when wear shows up on inspection.

As a matter of practice, what do you guys usually do about this ?

Thanks !!

70K miles is a good point at which to replace the serpentine belt. Just a FYI for anyone interested, cracks across a serpentine belt are normal so don't let a mechanic point them out to you and claim it needs replacing.

Now longitudinal cracks, cracks running parallel to the edges of the belt, are a different thing entirely and bad news. When those cracks appear, the belt is nearly at the point of failure and it's definitely time to replace it.
